This 16th-century tradition is that during the "Genevan Fast" (Jeûne Genevois), plum pie should be enjoyed; initially it was the only food allowed those fasting on that day.
This was before it quite often became the high point of the meal...
For a hundred or so years, Genevan pastry cooks have fashioned chocolate pots to celebrate victory over the Savoyards on that infamous night of 11th to 12th December 1602.
Legend has it that a certain "Matron", a bold cook, poured a pot of boiling soup on their heads!
This tale is the origin of the fashioning of this much awaited chocolate symbol each year at Wolfisberg!
